I’m thrilled to share a new article I co-authored for Harvard Business Review with my dear colleague and friend, Lisa Zigarmi. It explores something profoundly close to my heart: attunement—the practice of being so present with someone that they feel truly seen, safe, and supported.

Have you ever offered thoughtful advice—only to watch it fall flat, leaving the other person more overwhelmed than relieved? Or have you ever opened up to someone, but instead of feeling comforted, you walked away feeling even more alone? Or have you found yourself in a conversation where, no matter how hard you tried, it seemed like you were in two different worlds?

We miss each other all the time.

Not in the nostalgic sense—but in the moments we fail to truly connect.

Whether you're meeting with a distressed colleague or listening to your teenager, one minute of attuned presence—just 60 seconds—can shift everything.

I believe attunement can unlock tremendous potential within organizations, peace between people, and healing within oneself. In a world where AI is taking over, this is one thing it can't provide.

Please read the article, and more importantly practice it.
